Donald Blanchard has 22 years of law enforcement experience and has been a member of the North Miami Police Department for over 14 years. He began his law enforcement career in 1993, as a Public Service Aide with Miami-Dade County. He then moved to Las Vegas in 1996 where he worked as a police officer for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. In 2002, Donald Blanchard returned to Miami, Florida and joined the North Miami Police Department family.

During his career with North Miami, Donald Blanchard served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Motor Officer, Traffic Homicide Investigator, and the Sergeant for our Community Policing and Code Compliance Unit. In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Commander and was assigned to the Department’s Code Compliance Unit, where he oversaw Code Compliance, Minimum Housing, Sanitation, and the Animal Control Unit. In August of 2016, Donald Blanchard was promoted to the rank of Police Major and assigned the Neighborhood Enhancement Division which includes the Neighborhood Enhancement Team, Police Athletic League, School Resource Officers, and Police Cadet Program.

Donald Blanchard holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute & University and is a Graduate of the University of Louisville, Kentucky’s prestigious Southern Police Institute (73rd SPI). Donald Blanchard’s success is an example of the American dream. He is the last of six children born to Mr. & Mrs. Blanchard who emigrated from Haiti to the United States in 1969. His parents came to the United States in search of a better life and opportunity for all their children through the help of others. He attributes his success in building trust with the community to his parents, who always remind him, that even the smallest measure of help can greatly impact another’s life in unimaginable ways.
