Rate of Pay Schedule (minimum of 3 hours per officer/ supervisor)

  • Police Officer........................................................................................... $35.00 (per hour)

  • Supervisor (required for jobs with 4 or more officers)................................$38.00 (per hour)

  • Command Staff (required for jobs with 10 or more officers/ Supervisors)... $41.50 (per hour)

Vendor must obtain an invoice for the requested off-duty job, which will be given by the North Miami Police Department. Invoice must submitted at the time of payment.

All payments for services performed by police personnel will be paid in advanced by the individual person or business. Payment is to be made at the City of North Miami Central Cashier’s Office (North Miami City Hall, 776 NE 125th St.), Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Payment must be in the form of debit cards, cash, or money orders, payable to the City of North Miami. Personal checks and credit cards will not be accepted.

Details, such as special or large-scale events, that necessitate advance planning may require the assignment of a Special Event Police Coordinator, who will be compensated at the rate of $41.50 per hour for planning and scheduling time.

Job cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the detail. Cancellations must be called in to the Off-Duty Employment Office at (305) 891-0294 ext. 24116, or ext. 24115 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. If you are unable to call during the listed hours, please call Communications at (305) 891-0294 ext. 24203. Payment for a minimum of three (3) hours per officer/supervisor shall apply to cancellations not meeting this requirement.

Sign and send the Off-Duty Assignment Request Form to Briana Belcher, at least, three (3) days in advance of your event, via email to: or via fax to: (305) 893-2707. Rate of pay for any off-duty employment performed on holidays will be as follows:

  • $51.50 per hour for:

    • Martin Luther King Day
    • President’s Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Veteran’s Day
    • Thanksgiving Day
  • $62 per hour for:

    • 6:00 p.m. Christmas Eve – 11:59 P.M. Christmas Day
    • 6:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve – 11:59 P.M. New Year’s Day

Additional Equipment Fees (based on availability) - (3 hour minimum)

  • Police Boat......................(+) $25.00 per hour

  • Police K-9........................(+) $20.00 per hour (Bomb/Narcotics)

  • Police Vehicle...................Only $25.00 flat rate

Indemnification. By signing this permit application, the undersigned shall hereby defend, indemnify and hold harmless the City of North Miami, its officers, agents and employees from and against any and all claims, costs, losses, damages and liabilities including reasonable attorney’s fees, relating to any acts or omissions concerning this permit and the requested services including, but not limited to any acts of negligence or negligent omissions by the City of North Miami, its officers, agents and employees; or by the negligent acts or negligent omissions of the undersigned, its officers, directors, agents, partners, subcontractors, employees, managers, clients and invitees.

Nothing contained in this section or elsewhere in this permit application is in any way intended to be a waiver of the limitation placed on the City of North Miami’s liability as set forth in Section 768.28, Florida Statutes, as amended from time to time. Additionally, the City of North Miami does not waive sovereign immunity, and no claim or award against the City of North Miami shall include attorney’s fees, investigative costs or pre-judgment interest.

Disputes. In the event of any dispute arising under or related to this permit application, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover all actual attorney fees, costs and expenses incurred by it in connection with that dispute and/or the enforcement of this permit application, including all such actual attorney fees, costs and expenses at all judicial levels, including appeal, until such dispute is resolved with finality.


The North Miami Police Department is NOT obligated to provide off-duty police services. Off-duty police services will not be approved for any person, firm, or organization whose offices, members, business, or operations are of a questionable nature; or for any event that will discredit the officer, Police Department, or the City.

It is understood that, notwithstanding the fact that the applicant will pay the City for services rendered and administrative fees, the applicant is restricted to the general assignment of duties to be performed and has no authority over the police personnel.

It is further understood that a police officer performing off-duty police services, who takes police action falling within the purview, or on the premises, of the applicant, shall remain in an off-duty service status for the duration of time to complete the processing of such action. Any time, beyond the time that was originally contracted, which is used to complete the processing of the police action, shall be paid for by the applicant. However, an officer taking police action outside the purview of the applicant, or off the applicant’s premises, will revert to an on-duty status.
